$37M Gold Coast motoring megaplex hits top gear

The $37 million development of the Gold Coast’s largest commercial vehicle centre will be complete this Saturday (9 March), with a grand opening event at four-wheel drive accessories specialist Opposite Lock’s new showroom at Arundel.

The launch is the culmination of a bold development reiterating that, as many regional economies are slowing, the Coast continues to prosper.

The 4X4 superstore will join Gold Coast Isuzu Trucks, Gold Coast Volkswagen Commercial, Gold Coast Isuzu Ute and Frizelle Sunshine Used Car Super Site as the last piece of a puzzle comprising a · 4.4-hectare sit, 6,000m² purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility for truck, van and utility sales & servicing - and now retail.

Frizelle Sunshine Automotive Group Parts Manager Alan Devine said the Arundel site co-locates the Coast’s newest Opposite Lock outlet alongside the nation’s recently-crowned number one Volkswagen light commercial retailer.

“This is a glimpse into the future of automotive retail,” Mr Devine said.

“We were outgrowing our Nerang and Southport yards and here we have so much more room to display our vehicles, with the best servicing facilities I’ve ever seen.

“The beauty of this spot is that you get a genuine ‘side-by-side’ look at the full Isuzu and Volkswagen ranges, a selection of more than 150 pre-owned vehicles and of course the best quality add-ons available with the new Opposite Lock Arundel outlet store.

“More than 150,000 passing vehicles catch sight of us each day from Queensland’s busiest motorway, and we’re set up for great access from the M1 with plenty of parking.”

Demand for 4WD aftermarket equipment is booming. Almost two-thirds of last year’s new car sales were SUVs (sports utility vehicles) – 43 per cent of market share – and light commercials a further 20.6 per cent[i].
