In 2019, Sequel PR was asked to assist the 107-year-old, all-male King’s College at the University of Queensland to make the momentous transition to co-ed.

The objective was to manage the change communication requirements across media, the general public, potential students and their families, senior schools as well as support the internal communications with key stakeholders including staff, past and current students and the University.


Sequel PR managed the announcement and an ongoing campaign across Queensland and Australia to encourage young women to attend King’s.  Telling the stories of new young and positive female students through regional and metro media provided King’s with the multi-channelled coverage required to get their positive message across. 


The media generated included the Gold Coast Bulletin and Daily Mercury to the Queensland Country Life, stories ran in The Sunday Mail and stories ran on Seven Sport and Seven News.

The launch of King’s new-look integrated community has been a success, with all the available spaces for women filled in both in 2020 and 2021.
