Melissa Watter (formerly Toomey) is a respected media identity who spent well over a decade in senior roles in metropolitan newspapers, radio and television (with both the Ten and Seven networks).

During her years in journalism, Melissa spent most of her time reporting on politics – local, State and Federal. She also, at various times, held key rounds such as health; business and finance; rural; and legal affairs.

Moving into the public relations arena in 2000, she has maintained a vast network of current media industry contacts and established relationships with key media decision-makers locally, nationally and internationally.

She has managed a number of challenging client briefs dealing with complex and controversial issues from business closures, to industrial relations disputes and high-profile legal cases. Melissa has also spearheaded national public awareness and education campaigns on subject including organ donation, skin cancer and recycling.

Melissa designed a thorough and extensive media training module that has taught some of Australia’s top executives how to manage an interview situation. She also conducts practical workshops on public relations, grassroots marketing communications and digital/social media. She holds one-on-one coaching sessions for individuals looking to improve their public speaking performance, speech writing capabilities or Board communication techniques.

A sought-after MC, panel and workshop facilitator, Melissa regularly provides these services to clients at in-house or public events. Melissa maintains her media profile and has appeared in regular panellist roles for radio stations including 4BC and ABC 612.
